Boxing Day Market Movers – Following The Money

Hereford Racecourse

Merry Christmas to racing fans, forget the turkey and pigs in blankets, today’s the real day of celebration. Kempton and Wetherby feature on ITV Racing, with the big one coming up at 3.00, the King George. That race features not one but two of today’s main market movers. It’s particularly fascinating that it’s not the handicaps where the big moves have come, but rather the Grade 1 action.

3.00 Kempton – Ladbrokes King George VI Chase

Waiting Patiently has been aptly named for connections, keeping him on track has long been an issue. When the final field came out on the 23rd, he Ruth Jefferson horse was 25/1, this morning he is generally a 14/1 shout with some firms going 12’s.

Saint Calvados has been the other one for money in the King George. Punters are trying to find one at a decent price to hit the frame and these two are those chosen. Another who was 25/1 on Wednesday, he’s now as short as 14/1, though he is slightly bigger elsewhere.

2.15 Leopardstown – Racing Post Novice Chase

This is one of the features of the entire day. Felix Desjy, Darver Star and Blackbow clash in what should be an informative guide to he Arkle at Cheltenham in March. It’s Embittered, however, who has seen all the support. 14/1 was his opening price but he is now six points shorter, with 8/1 across the board. In such a deep race, it’s a fascinating move.

1.28 Wetherby – William Hill Lengthen #yourodds Handicap Chase

Ollie Greenall has had four winners in his last twelve runners and it’s his Twotwothree who has been nibbled at here. 11/1 on opening show, he’s now a general 8/1 shot in this handicap chase. On paper, he would look to have a bit on his plate but he’s only seven and represents a canny yard so the move has to entitle him to respect.
