Big-race verdict: myracing tipsters fire their Beverley Bullets

Beverley Racecourse

One of the feature races of the season at Beverley is live on ITV Racing on Saturday, the Beverley Bullet. The stiff five furlongs at Beverley has one of the most pronounced draw biases in the country with those in the low numbers generally favoured. Our tipsters give their thoughts on the contest below.

Best form is on a sound surface so conditions should suit at Beverley

He comes with risks attached but Lampang, a four-year-old son of Dandy Man, could have what it takes to win this race at what could be a nice price. Very well backed and sent off favourite for the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon earlier this month, he was slowly away and was also drawn on the wrong side of the track.

There was a strong bias for those drawn high on the day and he did well to finish just six lengths off the winner Justanotherbottle in 10th.Lampang’s best form is on a sound surface so conditions should suit at Beverley, while he has also been given a good draw in stall two.

There will be a lot of pace on here with several front-runners in the line-up and he should be able to grab the rail and wait for a gap while conserving energy. Whether he is classy enough to win is another question but he did defy a lofty mark of 102 at Hamilton in June – Adrian Wall

He adores this track and can continue the Beverley love affair

Three wins in four starts here, including this race in 2019, Judicial is a standing dish at Beverley. He underperformed on his most recent outing here but that is a rare blip in an otherwise stellar career. He bounced right back to form at Chester last time when getting the better of the re-opposing Dakota Gold.

On that occasion there was a strong pace to help him and the same is expected here. There are three or four who do their best work from the front so the early gallop is going to be quick. On an uphill track like this, that is a recipe for the race falling apart late and one of the closers picking up the pieces.

Judicial is slotted into stall five which is fine, Callum Rodriguez should have plenty of options on where he wants to head from there with pace both high and low, either side of him. He adores this track and can continue the Beverley love affair with a second Beverley Bullet – Matthew Newman
