Archie Watson sends one runner on a 708-mile round trip to Kelso on Monday

4.30 Kelso

Chosen Hero is the horse in question and she runs in the Le Garcon d’Or Mares’ Handicap Hurdle at 4.30. She was a disappointing when pulling up on handicap debut at Exeter last time out and will need to improve significantly on that effort.

Lightly raced with just five hurdles starts to her name, it would certainly be dangerous to give up on her however. This daughter of Flemensfirth got off the mark in a mares’ novice at Chepstow on her penultimate start and clearly possesses some ability.

There should be plenty more to come in handicap company as it’s unlikely that the six-year-old has peaked already. It’s fair to say that this is potentially a shrewd bit of placement as the form of her Chepstow victory is probably the best on offer here.

Jockey Nick Scholfield heads up to Kelso just to ride this horse and he has one winner from four rides here in the last five seasons.

Archie Watson hasn’t had a runner at Kelso during the current season and has only had two previous runners here throughout his entire career. Winless from those two runners, he’ll surely be looking to get one on the board at the Scottish track.
