Adrian Wall’s 27-1 Grade One accumulator for Leopardstown on Saturday

Sir Erec winning the Spring Juvenile Hurdle Leopardstown

The eagerly anticipated Dublin Racing Festival gets under way at Leopardstown on Saturday. With four Grade Ones up for grabs, it is certain to be an exciting day of action. Here we outline four horses in the big races to form an accumulator.

1.05 Leopardstown

Mr Incredible won well earlier in the week to enhance the claims of Gaillard Du Mesnil in the opener. Willie’s runner beat that horse comfortably by over nine lengths so that is a huge boost to the form. Considering at the time the yard’s runners usually needed the run, that was an impressive performance. With an RPR of 155, he could be another star in the making.

1.35 Leopardstown

Chacun Pour Soi is bidding to repeat last year’s victory in the Ladbrokes Dublin Chase following his Grade One success there over the Christmas period. Now a three-time Grade One winner, he is two from three at Leopardstown, his only defeat coming to the hands of recent Savills Chase winner A Plus Tard. He has an RPR of 178 and on those figures should win.

2.10 Leopardstown

Energumene could be a serious challenger to Shishkin in the Arkle at Cheltenham next month. Already a winner of a point-to-point, a bumper and a hurdle race, he made it two from two over fences at Naas last month. The French-bred gelding faced a tough test in the form of Captain Guinness but he beat him convincingly. He could be going right to the top.

3.15 Leopardstown

Sharjah ran out an impressive winner of the Matheson Hurdle for the third successive year at Leopardstown over Christmas. He will have to concede weight to last year’s winner of this race Honeysuckle, and it could be a tall order. However, last season’s Cheltenham Champion Hurdle runner-up deserves a lot of respect and could just edge out Henry’s mare in the closing stages.
