Adrian Wall – “Back this 20-1 shot to beat Envoi Allen in the Marsh Novices’ Chase”

Cheltenham Festival day 3

Adrian Wall is back with his weekly Cheltenham Festival blog. It certainly won’t be popular opinion but he thinks Envoi Allen will be turned over by this 20-1 tip. Trained by Mick Winters, it would be a very popular Irish winner.

Chatham Street Lad has been pulled out of four of his five Cheltenham Festival engagements. The Marsh Novices’ Chase will be his sole target now after his connections made their decision.

A 15-length winner of the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup in December, a repeat of that would make him very hard to beat. It was a performance that boggled the mind and he went up the hill as if it wasn’t even there.

Winters gave Chatham Street Lad a bit of a freshen up following a defeat at Fairyhouse last month. He didn’t jump with much fluency again but the trip wasn’t adequate either, he needs further.

Cheltenham form

There is no doubt that he was very disappointing at Fairyhouse. However, you should judge a horse by what he is capable of and he is capable of a monster performance at this track.

He is reportedly thriving at home. Winters cantered him on the beach and in the water plus he’s had some physio work. Connections will be hoping for plenty of rain and if it comes, he could well go off second favourite.

Envoi Allen has done absolutely nothing wrong in his career but he hasn’t had a tough race this season. This will be unforgiving and Chatham Street Lad will be toughened up after running in some hot handicaps.

Back this 20-1 shot to beat Envoi Allen in the Marsh Novices’ Chase.
