‘A big run could be on the cards’ – Rachael Blackmore has two rides on the Flat at York

Star jumps jockey Rachael Blackmore is more renowned for her exploits over the jumps, but she is no stranger to having rides on the Flat and will ride two horses at York Racecourse on Saturday. One will be for her trainer Henry de Bromhead, while the other will be in a good handicap for the Richard Fahey team! Let’s take a look at the horses in more detail below and you can find all of the weekend’s tips on the website.

3.20 York

Henry de Bromhead’s Term Of Endearment has been off the track for 217 days, but the mare has her sights lowered on her return to action and she could play a part. Last seen finishing 10th in the Group 1 Champions Fillies’ & Mares at Ascot in October, the mare bolted up in a Group 3 at Cork over 1m4f in testing conditions on her penultimate start. The ground will be fine for her here, and the trip shouldn’t be a problem, so a big run could be on the cards if she’s ready to roll.

3.55 York

Blackmore’s final ride is aboard Richard Fahey’s Quiet Resolve in the 7f handicap, and again she has a squeak in an open race. A winner over this trip on the all-weather at Newcastle in February, the gelding ran a respectable fifth over course and distance on his first try on grass this month. He ran with plenty of promise, only beaten a couple of lengths, and this is a drop down in grade for the boy. He won’t have to improve a whole pile to play a major role in the contest.
