Windsor can be a rather polarising track and it seems as if horses have a marmite-like relationship with it. With that in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out two horses at decent prices running at Windsor on Monday evening. These horses can be combined into a massive 208-1 each-way double. Second Collection (18-1, William Hill) is available at a huge price if you consider her course form. In 10 starts at the Berkshire track, this mare has won three times and placed a further five times. This is a particularly impressive record which is bettered by the fact that in her three starts over the minimum trip, she is yet to be out of the first three. The handicapper dropped her 3lb for a poor effort at Bath last time leaving her on a mark of 74 which is just 1lb higher than when she won here in August. Back at her home away from home and on a nice mark, she should be outrunning her price.
The current ground conditions are identical to those in which The Princes Poet (10-1, William Hill) last won. That victory came here in August on good-to-firm ground and he’s likely to encounter that here. In three starts at Windsor this gelding is yet to finish out of the frame. He’s yet to prove that he stays 6f well but if he’s ever likely to get the trip it should be here where he clearly thrives. Hopefully there’s more to come from him at four.
