“10-1 is hanging by a thread” in a magic Champion Hurdle

Without a doubt, the first day of the Cheltenham Festival is the best of the four. 3.05 Tue – Unibet Champion Hurdle

A competitive renewal which lacks a real star. The one thing that’s guaranteed in the 2021 Champion Hurdle is that it will be run at a proper championship pace. Goshen, Honeysuckle, Aspire Tower, For Pleasure, Jason The Militant, Not So Sleepy, Petit Mouchoir and Song For Someone have all shown their best form pushing the pace along.

As such, it’s hard to back any of them with any great confidence with the race shaping as if it will fall apart for a closer. Take out Shishkin in the Supreme from last March and Abacadabras wins the race eleven lengths and would’ve been hot favourite for this race.

His form this season has not been up to that standard but small fields on very deep ground really aren’t his thing, his career-best in the aforementioned Supreme which was run at a proper gallop. It’s easy to see him travelling powerfully before swooping by on the run-in, with decent ground now looking likely another big help for him.

He is 10-1 in just a single place now at bet365 and it would be no surprise to see him as the punt of the race next week and could easily got off 6-1.
