8.15 Newcastle

The Racing League is live on ITV Racing and although it might not be one’s cup of tea, there is no doubting its competitiveness which can only be a good thing for a punter. The best backed horse of the day comes in this handicap and backed from a high of 10-1 last night all the way into 4-1 as of now, a fair chunk of money seems to be on Vince Lombardi.

Grant Tuer trains this horse and the yard is in form with three winners from their last nine runners. Vince Lombardi won very comfortably at Carlisle just six days ago and although he is now 6lb higher in the weights, connections are looking to strike while the iron is hot. He did win that race very handily so the penalty might not be enough to stop him in his tracks.

He only ran on this type of surface once before and that was here at this track when third over 7f. That was off the back of a lengthy absence in June so we can take that as a big positive that the track won’t be an inconvenience.
