Guide to the Ebor Festival Day 3

York Racecourse

Day two of the Ebor Festival provided us with two star-studded performances that lighted up the Knavesmire. First, we had Sea Of Class, who proved she was all class when blasting home to win the Yorkshire Oaks in great fashion. The second was the returning Lah Ti Dar, who proved why she was the provisional Epsom Oaks favourite when screaming away to win the Galtres Stakes by ten lengths. The action only gets better on Friday, with several key talking points to go through. Our ITV Racing Tips are on site to view now and you can find all the key information for a fantastic days racing down below.

Stradivarius bids for a Million in the Lonsdale

He’s been the focal point of the staying division this season, and this year’s star Stradivarius bids for his biggest success yet. That’s not because of the competition, he’s faced tougher in the past, but a victory today would quite literally make him look a million pounds. Winner of the Yorkshire Cup, the Ascot Gold Cup and the Goodwood Cup this campaign, a victory in this Group 2 contest would win his connections the Stayer’s Million bonus. He’s clear on ratings and you’d struggle to find a way to get him beat, which says a lot about the talent he oozes.

The “Batmobile” out to prove he’s sprinting royalty

Earlier in the campaign, Godolphin’s Blue Point blasted home to win the King’s Stand in tremendous style. He couldn’t, however, back that up at Newmarket last time and connections of Battaash will be hoping he bombs out once again. Granted, they’ll also likely be thinking a fully revved up Blue Point could do little to stop Battaash winning this prize. Charlie Hills’ speedball produced perhaps the biggest performance of his career when impressively winning at Glorious Goodwood last time and reproducing that, he should be all but impossible to beat. Jim Crowley coined him as ‘the Batmobile’ after that devastating King George performance and few could argue, let’s hope he produces another frightening performance!
