‘Conditions are a big plus’ – Four soft ground horses to follow on Wednesday

After an extended dry period in Britain, the rain has finally come. Consequently the ground is soft at both Doncaster and Catterick on Wednesday. 3.30 Catterick

Homer Stokes has won three of his five starts on soft ground so conditions are a big plus. His last win came over course and distance on soft ground in October and he’s currently on a 1lb lower mark. Runner-up at Carlisle on his penultimate start, there are plenty of reasons to be confident.

5.00 Catterick

Crocodile Power didn’t start the season off to well but there have been signs of a return to form recently. Not only does he have a good record on soft ground, his course record also reads well. A return to winning ways is on the agenda soon and this looks like a good opportunity.

6.50 Doncaster

Irish Nectar has three career wins to his name and all three have come on soft ground. The most recent of those came over course and distance in October, off a 1lb higher mark. That form suggests he has every chance here and a big run is anticipated.

7.55 Doncaster

Law Degree is a much better horse on soft ground and has two wins and two placed efforts to his name in five starts on it. He won nicely at Ripon in September and some below-par efforts this season mean he’s now on a 2lb lower mark. A return to form shouldn’t be ruled out.
