The Irish View: Adrian Wall’s three horses to follow at Sligo on Wednesday

Sligo Racecourse

Sligo is a lovely track from a betting point of view. In general you need a nippy type that usually likes to be up near the pace. It’s very rare to see a horse come from the rear to win around here given the sharp nature of the track. I have picked out three horses that should go close at the venue on Wednesday.

1.15 Sligo

Talented 5lb claimer Sam Ewing will ride Approach The City in the Sligo opener and the gelding has the perfect draw coming out of stall three to get an early position by the rail. He ran an eye-catching race in a Ballinrobe claimer last time out when beaten just over two lengths in fourth and Sligo is a similar track so he has solid claims.

2.17 Sligo

Miss Myers does not have the ideal draw parked out in stall 10 but should get away with it over 1m2f. Sligo is a sharp right-handed track and it usually pays to be with a prominent runner so early positioning will be key. She brings a strong level of form to the table for all she has only won once from 23 Flat starts. Arriving here off the back of three solid efforts in a row over this distance, the form of her Fairyhouse run has worked out well with Takeachancejimmy winning next time out.

3.27 Sligo

Joey Sheridan is one of the best claimers in the country and he will ride Mist Of The Deep for trainer Fozzy Stack. The daughter of Starspangledbanner has not shown a whole lot in three starts to date but was very well backed on debut and she was far from disgraced on soft going on the day. This will be the first time that she will encounter ground with soft in the description since and she is an interesting runner on handicap debut with first-time blinkers on.
