.40pm Newbury Tips & Betting Preview 09/11/2017

.40pm Newbury tips for Thursday’s race. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: COLIN’S BROTHER (Each Way) goes really well fresh and has run some of his best races coming back for a break which suggests now is the best time to catch him. Our partner Nigel Twiston-Davies has his horses in great form, and at the prices he looks a good each way bet and should go close this afternoon.

CROSSPARK – Goes well fresh and has won first time out or after long lay-offs plenty of times. Seemed to fail to see out the three miles behind American in March when last seen but down in trip and class now and ought to do a lot better if race fit after nearly eight months off the track.

HENRI PARRY MORGAN – Jumping issues saw eight runs without a win last season for Peter Bowen but that has seen his rating fall to a very workable mark today and one he can win form having scored off two pounds higher at Uttoxeter in March 2016. James Bowen claims seven pounds but he needs to prove he is back to his best to warrant support.

WILLIE BOY – A winner last time out at Uttoxeter for trainer Venetia Williams after falling at the first on his chasing debut under rules at Sandown. The six-year-old has also won a point to point and may well have a lot more to offer this season and looks acceptably handicapped on his return from eight months off but his stable seem out of sorts.

EXXARO – Left Henry De Bromhead for Mouse Morris after his final start over hurdles in October 2015 and has had nine unsuccessful starts over fences since, two for Mouse and seven since moving to Colin Tizzard. He did finish second in four of them but is proving hard to win with, the same issue may apply here.

GREYBOUGG – Got off the mark at the ninth attempt over fences at Uttoxeter in April when beating Buttercup seven lengths over two and a half miles and has to run off eight pounds higher now. Expected to try and make al here for Danny Cook who rides the eight-year-old grey for Nigel Hawke today

WEST WIZARD – Out of sorts lately for reasons unknown and pulled up at Cheltenham behind Cogry when last seen in late October when weakening quickly over the three miles one furlong. Drops in trip today which may suit but hard to make a case for while in this sort of form.

COLIN’S BROTHER – Two wins from just the four starts last season for Nigel Twiston-Davies whose son Sam rides as he looks for chase win number three. A well beaten third off two pounds higher at Ludlow in March, he hasn’t been seen since but runs really well fresh and as the stable are in great form with eight winners in the last two weeks he has to have a really solid chance.

FORTUNATE GEORGE – Still a novice and very inexperienced after just the two runs over fences with a fifth at Fontwell and a third at Worcester beaten twenty-two lengths. Could be well handicapped off a mark of 125 and worth a market watch for signs of confidence.

MR MEDIC – A winner last time out at Exeter over a fraction shorter when seeing off Triple Chief by fourteen lengths despite being eased close home after being left in the lead after the fall of Third Act at the fourth. Up a punitive fifteen pounds but may well improve again and take a hand here for trainer Robert Walford under jockey James Best.

GORES ISLAND – Unlucky lately after falling at the last at Kempton when leading in February and finishing second in his last two starts at Plumpton where the Gary Moore yard do so well. May possibly need his first run in seven months at the age of eleven but he does run well first time out in general and his stable are going well.
