7 International Best Bets For The Weekend.

Now based in France with the very occasional trip back “home”, he has a great chance despite top-weight and ought to win this before slowly moving up in grade.

The better class races are harder to call though with 120,000 Euros on offer in the big hurdle due off at 1.52pm UK time, that comes as no huge shock. L’Autonomie was running a huge race before falling last time out here and could be the one to serve it up to Feu Follet, but the likely favourite is pretty hard to oppose with his five out of six win record and was particularly impressive here last time out suggesting he remains on an upward curve.

That saw the big race over hurdles and is followed by the Murat Chase at 2.32pm, though it appears the French suffer the same as we so with 210,000 Euros in prize money attracting a poor field of just six runners.

Bipolaire looks to have been laid out for this and scored on his reappearance over hurdles suggesting he will be spot on this afternoon, but it may be worth risking the year younger Crystal Beach this time around after he finished a highly respectable second to De Bon Coeur last time out.

You have to wonder if any of these would have got as close to that superstar and if the answer is no then he clearly has a solid chance of a fifth win here on only his tenth start.

Sha Tin Sunday 7th April 2019

On to the flat on Sunday and starting in Sha Tin (Hong Kong), we have a match and what should be little more than an exercise canter (famous last words). It looks as if Mr Stunning and Beat The Clock have beaten off any serious opposition ahead of The Sprint Cup at 7.00am UK time but it really is hard to choose between them in a race best watched.

The World’s top miler, Beauty Generation turns out in The Chairman’s Trophy at 9.05am. The winner of his last seven races the six-year-old has smashed the £7,000,000 win prize money mark and ought to add to that here with the enigmatic Pakistan Star looking to be his only danger and only then if he puts it all in, which is anything but guaranteed.

Longchamp Sunday 7th April 2019

Back to Europe next and a good card from Longchamp Sunday afternoon sees three Group races to keep fans happy starting with the Prix la Force over nine furlongs at 1.35pm. Trainer Andre Fabre has won four of the last nine runnings of this contest and has two interesting entries in 2019 as well.

Roman Candle looked a good sort as a two-year-old for Godolphin but drops back a furlong today which seems a strange move, and he may yet be outpaced by stable companion Urwald who won his only start at  Saint-Cloud last season with plenty in hand and could be the value call this afternoon.

The 2.50pm over the same trip of nine furlongs is for fillies only (Prix Vanteaux) and sees a field of eight due to go to post for this Group Three contest. Alimnia is highly regarded and won’t be far away at the finish but Etoile looks the likelier winner of the two with a one race experience edge as well as her unbeaten record, and she may yet be classic bound with the French Oaks looking her best longer-term option.

One more race in Europe to mention as seven runners go to post for the Group Two Prix d’Harcourt over the mile and a quarter that Godolphin seem keen to win with four of the entries.

Interesting to see the ex Aidan O’Brien making his debut in the blue colours here though if I had to pick a winner, I suspect Ghaiyyath is their number one with William Buick in the saddle.

Possibly hard to train with four career starts and one winning run over course and distance last season he proved that day he can go well fresh and may have the touch of class needed for a race of this stature.
