5 Reasons Why You Should Bet On Racing Over The Summer!

Clemmie Newmarket Racecourse

With the football season proper coming to a close, plenty of punters will be looking elsewhere for their Saturday punt. Although we have no Premier League football over the next few months, the  horse racing season on the flat hits its peak, and we’ve found five reasons why you should be betting on the racing this summer, as well as our horse racing tips!

Big Racing Festivals!

Perhaps the best five days of flat action anywhere in the world, Royal Ascot is the centre-piece of the flat season in Britain and plays host to the best of the best. With challengers from America and Asia converging on the Berkshire venue, it’s racing that simply cannot be missed. With so much brilliant action each weekend, we’ve got a handy guide of all the big races and Festivals below –

  • Royal Ascot (18th June – 22nd June)
  • Coral-Eclipse, Sandown (6th July)
  • July Festival, Newmarket (11th July – 13th July)
  • King George Weekend, Ascot (26th July – 27th July)
  • Glorious Goodwood (30th July – 3rd August)

The Weather!

It’s a very obvious positive, but there is simply nothing better than watching some of the best racing action anywhere in the world in the beautiful sunshine. With so much incredible Group 1 action taking place when the weather is at its peak, you should get planning for your next racecourse visit!

Music Nights!

They aren’t for everyone, but music nights have proven hugely popular in recent years, with many of the big racecourses adopting them. From Tom Jones to Jess Glyne, there is something for everyone and if you’re looking for a brilliant days racing with a musical twist, they could be for you.

The Big Guns Come Out To Play!

The competition gets serious in the summer months, with a huge amount of top quality action. From the speedballs such as Battaash and Blue Point, to the middle-distance stars like Enable and Crystal Ocean, most weekends in the summer will see plenty of highly-rated competitors coming out to play.

You Could See The Next Frankel!

On that fateful summer’s evening at Newmarket on the 13th of August 2010, racegoers would have been unaware of the history they’d just witnessed. Sir Henry Cecil’s Frankel missed the kick that day, but powered home to beat Nathaniel, with the pair pulling a long way clear. That maiden form turned out quite strong, you could say!

With plenty of two-year-old performers making their debut at Newmarket and the bigger venues this summer, there is a big chance that you could bare witness to a Group 1 winner in the making. Perhaps seeing the next Frankel, however, is a shade ambitious!
