7.10pm Newbury Tips & Betting Preview 21/07/2016

An interesting handicap in the centre of the Newbury card is what our race preview focuses on. See our betting tips below to find out an interesting runner for top connections who can capitalize on a good opportunity presented to him.

IN SUMMARY: Both Sides was very unlucky latest when 3rd at Sandown latest and that is strong form, but it may well be worth taking a chance on VINCENT’S FOREVER. Gosden’s lightly raced gelding has been competing in much strong races and will find this much more of a suitable test and he’s also bred to love this new trip. Ravens Quest shouldn’t be overlooked but he’s 10lb higher for his latest win and not assured to run well on faster going.

1 SCARLET DRAGON – Won by a very small margin at Newbury latest (12f, Good to Soft). Has solid claims despite 5lb rise but needs to step up again, but trainer is inform and has Jim Crowley on board which will help his cause.

2 VINCENT’S FOREVER – Lightly raced and racing for a very powerful stable (Gosden). Hasn’t been disgraced in much tougher company than this and the new trip will only help him reach full potential. Should go very close.

3 BEDROCK – Just managed to get up when winning at Haydock latest (8f, Good to Soft). That was good but will need more in this and headgear will have to work a second time. Not sure whether this forecasted faster going will suit so has some question marks to answer.

4 BOTH SIDES – Very unlucky latest at Sandown (10f, Good to Soft) when being hampered multiple times and only getting a clear run with 150 yards to go. Andrew Balding won this race last year and has another great chance here as his charge has very strong claims if getting the gaps.

5 RAVENS QUEST – Stylish victory at Nottingham latest (10f, Soft), up 10lb which seems fair and still has strong claims of repeating there performance. Concern about the ground though as he’s never raced on ground this quick so that may well scupper his charge.

6 JIM DANDY – 16/1 when slowly gaining on the leaders towards the line at Newbury latest (8f, Good to Firm). Seems to be weighted well but this could be a bridge too far for now, so place claims at best.

7 PACK IT IN – Well held last twice after winning 3 starts ago at Bath in the mud (10f, Soft). Unless the ground starts to ease, stay well away.

8 NOT TOUCH – Very poor effort when upped to 1m latest, but it’s interesting that his pedigree would suggest he should be suited by this. Hannon opts to put him up to 10f’s straight after that which suggests he hasn’t given up yet. Interesting.
