3.55pm Fontwell tips for Friday’s Class 2 event. The feature race of the day at Fontwell on Friday features a number of top jumpers returning, including a Grade 3 winner for Gary Moore. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: A very competitive handicap can go the way of the 2016 Grand Sefton winner AS DE MEE who is highly consistent in the top handicaps for Paul Nicholls and will prove tough to beat on his return. He goes well fresh – as proven by his win on return to this venue last season – with his current mark seeing him fairly treated on the best of his form. Bryony Frost takes off five pounds and she can push him to victory ahead of Go Conquer who is two pounds lower than when fifth at Cheltenham in March and who also goes well fresh.

1 FOX APPEAL – Won three starts ago at Newton Abbot when asserting well, but off this mark he was well beaten at Southwell in August. Perhaps he needed the run on that occasion and he is more than capable off this mark. Definite each way claims under Nick Scholfield.

2 AS DE MEE – Won the Grand Sefton at Aintree last December and he was far from disgraced when last seen at Sandown – fourth in a very competitive chase. He’s a pound lower here and can go well fresh, so his claims are obvious with conditions to suit.

3 GO CONQUER – Finished fifth in the Ultima Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival in March, badly hampered on his latest start so that is forgiven. He has time on his side and he’s only had nine chase runs; he’s more than capable off this mark, so he has to be considered.

4 ANTONY – Course and distance winner who won a Grade 3 at Ascot in October 2016, pulling up at Sandown when last seen after two serious errors. He won on return on this card last season and remains unexposed over fences, though he does have something to prove off this mark.

5 PULL THE CORD – Has been running well over fences without winning, finishing a long second at Stratford in April. He’s a pound lower and he goes well fresh, with conditions to suit. He’s an each way contender at his best, but others are preferred for win purposes.

6 GOWANAUTHAT – Completed a five-timer when winning at Stratford in September 2016, but off higher marks he has been painfully consistent. He pulled up at Market Rasen when last seen and there are little excuses for that. Others look far more solid propositions.

7 WORKBENCH – Held on gamely to win over hurdles here on his latest start and he returns to chasing off a fair mark on the best of his form. He’s six pounds below his last winning mark and goes well round Fontwell, so he has obvious claims for the Skeltons who remain in great form.

8 HOWLONGISAFOOT – Gained his fourth chasing success when scoring at Stratford easily in March, although he was well held at Newbury when last seen. He’s now upped in class on return and, although he’s well treated on the bets of his form, he’s entitled to need it.
