3.15pm Southwell Tips and Betting Preview 03/10/2017

3.15pm Southwell tips for Tuesday’s Class 4 race. Three miles is the trip for this handicap chase that will test the horses’ stamina and guts as they bid for glory. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: Deadly Move has been very consistent in 2017 and once again won’t be too far away, but preference is for MOORLANDS MIST. He kept on well after perhaps being given too much to do at Market Rasen two starts ago, backing that up with a good third over hurdles off nine pounds higher. Back on his lowly chasing mark, if producing a similar effort he should be very tough to beat with Nathan Moscrop taking off a further five pounds.

1 BENENDEN – One win from seven starts over fences and he’s a much better horse over hurdles, pulled up over fences when last seen. He stays this far and has his ground, but he really doesn’t convince in this code and others are readily preferred on this occasion.

2 DEADLY MOVE – Has been hugely consistent since returning from a break for Peter Bowen, gaining a deserved win at Bangor when last seen. He rallied gamely that day and a three pound rise is very generous, with James Bowen taking off seven pounds. A similar performance will see him in the shake up and he’s respected.

3 GOLD INGOT – Doesn’t win very often over fences and he seems at the mercy of the handicapper at present. He was well held in third when last seen at Uttoxeter and he’s only two pounds lower, with this step up in distance not ideal. He’s best watched until his handicap mark starts to come back down.

4 CLUBS ARE TRUMPS – Inconsistent sort for Jonjo O’Neill who’s capable on his day, but catching him right can be frustrating. He produced one of his better efforts when third at Bangor last time out and he’s a pound lower here. This looks like an easier race and he’s a leading player if putting it all in.

5 DAVID JOHN – Won on chasing debut back in June, but he’s been let down by his jumping in three runs since, well held over course and distance when last seen after many errors. The blinkers are applied now and he’s an each way player, however his jumping is of grave concern.

6 LITTLE WINDMILL – Has been very disappointing in recent efforts for Neil King, beaten 42 lengths on his latest start at Plumpton. Headgear goes on now, but he looks vulnerable under Trevor Whelan, despite having conditions to suit.

7 INDY ISLAND – Hurdle/Point-to-Point winner for the in-form Charlie Longsdon team who arrives here on the back of two dismal efforts over timber. She makes her debut for Longsdon today and it would be no surprise were she to make up as a much better chaser. Market support should be noted and she’s a player.

8 MOORLANDS MIST – Has been running solidly of late for Sara Ender, keeping on well despite being set too much to do on the day to finish fourth. He backed that up with a good run over hurdles and, off of his ten pound lower chasing mark, he looks sure to make a bold bid for glory with Nathan Moscrop taking off five pounds.

9 THAT’S THE DEAL – 13-year-old who hasn’t been running badly of late for John Cornwall, although he was 20 lengths behind Gold Ingot when last seen at Uttoxeter. More is needed and he looks extremely vulnerable against fresher horses in this field.

10 DONAPOLLO – Disappointing on his last two runs for Rose Dobbin, well beaten over both fences and timber. He has plenty to prove now and his losing run dates back to October 2015, so it’s very hard to be confident.

11 SHAIYZAR – Yet to win over fences for David Thompson and he’s had plenty of chances, beaten by 12 lengths when second at Stratford two starts ago. He was beaten out of sight when last seen at Bangor and others are readily preferred.
