3.05pm Huntingdon Tips and Betting Preview 05/10/2017

3.05pm Huntingdon tips for Thursday’s Class 4 race. Stamina is going to be tested as these nine horses contest this prize over the 3m 1f distance. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: The one to beat here is AIR SQUADRON, who got off the mark on his latest start with a comfortable victory at Southwell. A mark of 115 on handicap debut is more than fair and he should take a world of beating in a race where many of his rivals have question marks. Dreamsoftheatre is the main danger, but he’s painfully inconsistent and isn’t sure to build on his good run over fences when last seen.

1 CAPTAINOFINDUSTRY – Triple hurdling winner for Mark Pitman, completing a double when scoring over 2m 4f here in May. However, off today’s mark he was slammed at Southwell at this distance and he has plenty to prove here after a 114 day break.

2 TEAK – Versatile runner for the red hot Ian Williams team who does stay this far as proved by his fourth at Newbury in November. His current mark isn’t beyond reach, but it does demand a career best and so others are preferred on this occasion.

3 MR FENTON – Eight race maiden for Emma Lavelle who has showed promise in five hurdling runs, with his best coming two starts ago when second at Worcester over 2m 7f. He needs to settle better here if he’s to have a chance and, if doing so, he holds each way claims as he’s unexposed.

4 AIR SQUADRON – Consistent sort who has form figures of 23221 over timber, with the cheekpieces propelling him to success at Southwell when last seen. He’s interesting on handicap debut for top connections off a mark which isn’t harsh, so he is the one to beat.

5 TANGOLAN – Doesn’t win often over timber, with most of his winning coming over the larger obstacles. He won off a pound lower at Perth in June 2016 so has possibilities off this mark. That said, he doesn’t arrive here at his best which has to be of concern.

6 ROYALE DJANGO – Last win came back in June 2015 and that was over fences, although he did return to a modest level of form when third at Uttoxeter three weeks ago. He’s on the same mark here and needs to find further improvement, with others making far more appeal.

7 DREAMSOFTHEATRE – Inconsistent sort for Jonjo O’Neill who returns to form when only going down by half a length at Market Rasen over fences. He showed his temperament that day and had ample chance to go by, so you couldn’t back him with much confidence off three pounds higher back over timber.

8 BRAVE HELIOS – Two wins from 35 career starts and he isn’t the most consistent, running well at Stratford in August before a well beaten effort at Newton Abbot. Those were over fences and he returns to hurdling off a much higher mark, so he’s best watched for now.

9 GENEROUS CHIEF – Nine-year-old who doesn’t win very often, still five pounds above his last winning mark at present. He stays this distance strongly, but was poor at Worcester when last seen over fences, so far more is needed here against some progressive sorts.
