2.00pm Ffos Las Tips & Betting Preview 17/09/2017

A nursery over six furlongs to start off Sunday’s racing from Ffos Las. Our runner by runner preview and expert tip for the contest are below.

IN SUMMARY: DARK FREEDOM is the interesting one for a yard bang in form. He has shown a little promise in his three runs for a mark with much better expected now that he is handicapping. Couldn’t Could She ran well at Kempton on Wednesday and her breeding suggests that soft ground is going to suit her well. Rio Santos has shown a few bits and pieces of form including on a soft surface to give him an each way chance in this race.

1 COULDN’T COULD SHE – Has started a big price on each of her starts, showing a little more promise now that she is handicapping. Bred to relish this soft ground, she should stay a fair bit further than this in time but extra stamina will be no bad thing under these conditions. She was only beaten a couple of lengths in a slightly better race than this at Kempton on Wednesday and holds solid claims at this level.

2 DARK FREEDOM – Showed glimpses of ability in three starts for a mark, including on very soft ground. He is entitled to do better now that he enters handicaps at a low level having been gelded following his most recent run. The Charlie Hills yard are in good form at present and now that he is running at this level, he should be well up to making a winning handicap debut.

3 KHELEYF’S GIRL – The pick of her form so far has come on artificial surfaces but she ran well enough on a similar surface in a Newmarket seller to believe she is capable enough on grass. She didn’t get home over the seven furlongs there so the drop back in trip is a big positive for her chances. A mark of 60 is fair on her sand form, if she can transfer that over to the turf she has an each way chance.

4 GIVE EM A CLUMP – Got his head in front when fitted with a visor for the first time in a Thirsk seller, runner-up next time when sporting the headgear. He has been well below that form the last twice so it’s no surprise to see the visor back on now. That second came at this track over further on good to soft so he has the stamina required back in trip providing he copes with the softer surface, which on breeding he should do.

5 INUK – Two best runs have both come on Polytrack, her turf form so far a good stone below that level. Connections fit her with cheekpieces for the first time but they are going to have to have a huge effect on her if she is able to produce anything like a winning challenge on a surface that clearly doesn’t suit her as well as sand.

6 BULLSEYE BULLET – Has shown little in five starts, failing to beat a rival home the only time he has appeared on turf. The fitting of cheekpieces made no difference on his most recent start, he is very hard to fancy even at this low level.

7 RIO SANTOS – Has shown a few bits of form, including on very soft ground. He didn’t get home over seven and a half furlongs at this track when tried but was running on over five at Chepstow last time. Now that he splits the difference on this surface, he may be capable of putting in an improved display, has an each way chance from this mark.
