Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 11th/12th November 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

The yard remains in good form with ten winners and a long list of decent placed efforts in the last two weeks so hoping that will continue, we spoke to Nigel on Friday morning while he was out on the gallops to ask his opinions on the weekend’s runners.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this week it will be on……

Ballyhill 3.25pm Aintree Saturday

“Still a novice after the two starts over fences when second at Warwick and third at Cheltenham but he jumps really well and I am confident he can only get better with more races. He makes his handicap debut over fences this afternoon and I am hoping he is thrown in off a mark of 133 less his jockey’s claim which makes him the Charity Bet this weekend.”

If Ballyhill wins we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Other Saturday runners:

Ballybolley 2.15pm Aintree

“He ran really well last time out when winning by four lengths at Market Rasen and seems to be getting better all the time. He likes it at Aintree and has won twice here already, once in a bumper and the other over hurdles but the fences suit him fine as well, and with everything in his favour other than the added seven pounds from the handicapper, I am anticipating a big run once again.”

Sunday Runners:

Angels Antics 1.00pm Ffos Las

“She is a great big mare and taking time to get the hang of what is required on the racecourse. I would describe her as one for the future and she might even find this a bit too sharp for her, but she is a nice sort and one I am very much  looking forward to over the months and years ahead.”

Jameson 1.20pm Sandown

“Just the one race over fences so far but I was more than pleased with his second to the above average West Approach at Ffos Las and he has shown the benefit of that experience since on the schooling grounds at home. This is (obviously) his first handicap over fences and I think he could be very well in off a rating of 129 this afternoon, and he has an excellent chance.”

Pink Gin 2.30pm Ffos Las

“Not getting any younger at the age of nine and although I have put as much work into him as I can there is a possibility he will improve for his first run in over eight months. He won’t be disgraced but others do look to have an advantage for now and this looks a competitive renewal.”

Verygoodverygood 3.05pm Ffos Las

“A bit of an In and out performer and even we don’t know what we will get until the tapes rise. He could equally finish first or last or anywhere in between and I cannot suggest him to you as a sensible bet for that reason.”

Double Ross 3.30pm Sandown

“A real stable favourite here and one we love to bits, and although he did get worried out of it at Chepstow last time out he still has a race or two left in him. His third to Native River at Newbury last November is top form and in a Veterans’ race like this he has to have every chance of win number eleven.”
