Nigel’s pick for his £25 Charity Bet this weekend is:

£12.50 each way returns £181.25 if he wins which will be donated to the Injured Jockey’s Fund

Saturday’s Runners

Ballyoptic 1.50pm Uttoxeter

“A six-year-old son of Old Vic, he won nicely enough last time out at Ffos Las to suggest that he is still progressing so I am hoping for a decent run from him today – he’s a nice horse and we like him at home.”

Northandsouth 2.25pm Uttoxeter

“He did win his last race (at Doncaster) which is a positive, but he has been put up six pounds by the handicapper and there are a couple in here (Midtech Valentine and Fort Carson) who get in unpenalised which makes life that bit more difficult for our chap.”

Goodbye Dancer 3.15pm Kempton

“He really needs a bit further than this to be seen at his best but he was balloted out of his Cheltenham options and we would like to get a race in to him hence his entry here.”

Cogry 4.10pm Uttoxeter – Midlands National

“He is a thorough stayer who needs a trip and ran well over two and a half miles when third last time out at Warwick. That was way too short to see hi mat his best so I was very pleased with his performance, and I am pretty hopeful of a big run at a huge price this afternoon.”

Oscar Magic 4.45pm Uttoxeter

“He is certainly a decent enough horse but we have been waiting and hoping for some better ground which should suit him a lot better. It ought to be drying out slowly at Uttoxeter but is still officially soft which leaves us a lot more hopeful than confident today.”

Muckle Roe 5.00pm Kempton

“Keeps on running well and keeps on placing and with the handicapper relenting another pound maybe today will be his time – we are certainly hopeful but not exactly confident.”
