Nigel Twiston-Davies Stable Update 23/03/2018

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

All good in the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard though an exhaustive set of tests to see why The New One failed to live up to Cheltenham expectations have brought absolutely nothing to light, and he continues to work like the very good horse we all know he is, and it is still all systems go for Aintree.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £25 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this afternoon it will be on……

Al Dancer 5.10pm Bangor Saturday

“This will be his first run for us after arriving from Christian Williams and he looks the part at home and has settled in really well. He ran a decent enough race on heavy going last time when third at Ffos Las but ought to improve on the better ground anticipated here and if that is the case I think he has a really good chance of getting off the mark at the third attempt.”

If Al Dancer wins, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Weekend picks:

Ballymoy 4.00pm Bangor Saturday

I had his wind operated on in November as he just wasn’t reproducing his homework out on the track and it seemed to do the trick on his next run when he hacked up in a little race at Uttoxeter which will have done his confidence the world of good. The Donald McCain horse looks decent but you can never run scared of one horse, and it Ballymoy improves as I expect then he can serve it up to his market rival here in receipt of seven pounds this afternoon, and with Tom Bellamy in the saddle.

Turning Gold 2.35pm Ascot Sunday

“He finished an excellent eleven length fifth in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen and if he can repeat that run this afternoon he really ought to find this considerably easier. It was a tough race at Prestbury Park but he is showing no ill effects at home and is ready to run again, and if he is in the same sort of form today, then he will take some stopping.”

Nigel Twiston-Davies will be back tomorrow for his views on his weekend runners as well as on a daily basis for all the major festivals! To see what our tipsters are backing in all the weekend’s races, check out our free daily horse racing tips!
