The unexposed Tetraites Style is likely to be all the rage in the betting, though he will need to find plenty on handicap debut, while Divine Port, who is a C&D winner, needs to prove his fitness after nearly two years off. The one who stands out at the prices is MAKE IT HAPPEN for a trainer who has been in hot form recently. Lucinda Russell’s representative wasn’t quite on it at Ayr last time out, but the form of his recent C&D second bodes well. A repeat of such form should see the nine-year-old go close in what is ultimately a weak race. Sierra Oscar also warrants respect.

Tetraites Style silk
Tetraites Style
J: Ross Chapman T: Gillian Boanas
Unexposed and inexperience runner, who comes here for a new trainer off the back of showing some promise in maiden/novice company. Wasn’t disgraced on debut, while the six-year-old showed plenty of progression to finish second at Hexham back in October. Disappointed next time out but there should be more to come following a wind operation. Tongue tie goes on for this handicap debut.
Divine Port silk
Divine Port
J: Charlie Deutsch T: Sally Haynes
One win from one run over C&D, Sally Haynes’ new recruit will be seen on the track for the first time in nearly two years. Showed plenty of promise when winning at both Carlisle and Sedgefield back in late 2015, though the gelding struggled to cope with a rise in the weights after those successes. Now comes here after a 712-day absence.
Boudry silk
Boudry
J: Lorcan Murtagh T: Rose Dobbin
No wins from ten runs over hurdles, Rose Dobbin’s runner doesn’t exactly jump off the page as the most likely winner of this contest. Won a bumper for Warren Greatrex back in early 2016 but has since struggled to find his feet over timber. Was poor last season and comes here off the back of a weak return, when finishing 44 lengths back at Wetherby, at the end of last month.

Up Helly Aa King
J: Grant Cockburn T: N. W. Alexander
Nick Alexander’s gelding showed minor promise in bumpers, though his four runs over hurdles have left much to be desired. Returned to action with a poor effort at Ayr in January, while the seven-year-old has failed to move forward in three races since. Finished fifth of seven on handicap debut at Haydock last time out and, though that was a tougher race, remains hard to fancy.
Sierra Oscar silk
Sierra Oscar
J: Sam Coltherd T: Jean McGregor
One of only three winners over hurdles in this line-up, Jean McGregor’s six-year-old is not without a chance in this race, though he will have to be raring to go after a 156-day break. Disappointed over further at this venue before Christmas but wasn’t disgraced over two miles prior to that. Now in a weaker race, over a distance that may just be more suitable, the gelding could deliver an improved effort.
Make It Happen silk
Make It Happen
J: Blair Campbell T: Lucinda Russell
Lucinda Russell’s representative comes here having shown patchy form at best. The gelding’s effort over C&D back in September was encouraging, though he’s disappointed twice since reappearing in 2018. If up to re-finding the form which saw him finish a good second around here three runs back, then the nine-year-old has a big chance of being right there at the finish.
Lastin' Memories silk
Lastin' Memories
J: Thomas Dowson T: Sandy Forster
This gelding is yet to get his head in front despite having had nine bites at the cherry over hurdles, though a considerable drop in the weights did bring about a more than reasonable performance recently. Finished within a length of the winner at Wetherby on penultimate start and shouldn’t be judged too harshly for not competing in what was a stronger race at this venue last time out.
Towerburn silk
Towerburn
J: Jamie Hamilton T: Alison Hamilton
Winner between the flags back in 2013, though Alison Hamilton’s nine-year-old has struggled massively to make his mark under rules. Remains relatively lightly raced, but the gelding delivered two poor runs last season, while wind surgery failed to spark a better performances at Sedgefield recently. Needs to improve massively to win this.
