‘You can’t ignore his strike-rate’ – Dettori at Kempton for one ride on Wednesday 👀

Royal Ascot 2018 Day 3

Frankie Dettori has been all over the news in the last couple of weeks. The veteran rider has had a tumultuous time of late after a disappointing Royal Ascot. He will be on board Inspiral in the Falmouth Stakes later this week but has some work to do before that. You can’t ignore Dettori’s 25 per cent strike-rate at Kempton in the last five years as 12 of his 20 rides have finished in the places. He makes the Journey there for just one ride on Wednesday evening which could be significant. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

5.45 Kempton

Apache Spark (4-1, bet365) is a daughter of Sioux Nation who has been impressing so far in his first season as a stallion. This filly was well beaten when finishing fifth on debut at Salisbury. The winner was a close above finishing seven lengths ahead and the next few were fairly well-bunched.

She’s entitled to improve for that debut effort as the filly was plenty keen enough and got carried left in the first furlong. Significant progression will be necessary but certainly isn’t out of the question. Trainer Ralph Beckett has a 33 per cent strike-rate with his juvenile all-weather runners this season, one winner from three runners.

If you factor in the strike-rates of both trainer and jockey, Apache Spark should have a good chance of winning here. Frankie Dettori is unlikely to make the trip for a single ride if connections weren’t confident of a big run.
