York Ebor Festival Day 4 Tips

The Strensall Stakes kicks off the final day of the Ebor Festival and MISS O’CONNOR has a great chance of getting back on the right track. Unbeaten in her first four starts, she suffered her first defeat on seasonal return at Ascot. There was no disgrace in that, however, as she clearly needed the run. Now she has race fitness under her belt, she’s sure to play a big role in this contest.

Wind surgery seemed to have worked the oracle for ESCOBAR, who posted a career-best effort to finish a close third in a Glorious Goodwood Group 2 when last seen. That effort can be upgraded given the way he travelled before being bumped at a crucial stage. He’s got a good record at York and there is plenty to like about his chances in the Group 2 City of York Stakes.

The Ebor Handicap is always ultra-competitive and the Irish challenge looks to have the edge in 2020. Joesph O’Brien sends over PONDUS, who should relish the step up in distance on his British return. He’s been running well in higher grades back home, including a Listed score at Roscommon in July. He sits on a very tempting mark on that sort of form and with the potential for further improvement, he looks sure to be in the thick of the action.
