Wednesday is going to be a good day on the racing front and there are five meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland. Perth provides the best of the action and there’s a Grade 1 winner appearing in one of their two Listed contests. Gordon Elliott is sending a small army over to the track and the stats suggest that there’s one jockey to follow. We’ve also got an ante-post tip to take on Jonbon with on Saturday. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
No Drama This End has been one of Britain’s best novice hurdlers for much of the season but things didn’t quite go to plan at Cheltenham in March and his chance was gone at the start. He won a couple of Grade 2s in very good style earlier on in the season, before winning the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle.
Connections decided to miss Aintree and this Listed contest is a much easier option. It’ll be disappointing if he fails to oblige with plenty in hand.
Irish trainer Gordon Elliott is sending a sizable team over to Perth on Wednesday so here are are some of his best chances. Newbrook Diamond has placed several times in maiden hurdles in Ireland this season and may well find this race much less competitive.
Sept Etoiles and Kazansky both run in the Listed Gold Castle Novices’ Hurdle and the latter has already scored at Grade 2 level, whilst the former won a competitive handicap in good style last time. Jigoro has a decent chance in the 3.40, on the evidence of his Gowran success last month.
Jack Power has three wins from four rides at Perth this season so it’s interesting that he has just the one ride there on Wednesday. Walking On A Dream had not shown much in his first three starts over fences but produced a much improved display to win by nine lengths at Ayr last time out. A 5lb rise seems pretty reasonable it’s likely that there’s more to come.
Nicky Henderson’s 10-year-old comes back in trip once again for the Celebration Chase at Sandown on Saturday. He has won the race twice before but the trip will be plenty sharp enough for him these days. Joseph O’Brien’s Solness returned to form at Aintree last time and looks like the value play.
