Unlucky and well-backed Irish raider goes again at Wolverhampton on Thursday 👀

Declan McGuigan sent his first two runners over to Britain on Tuesday and both were well-backed on the day. One of them was very unfortunate as the starter let them go without the jockey being on board. It’s a question of what could have been as the money came for him in a big way.

6.30 Wolverhampton

Beleaguerment got upset in the stalls at Wolverhampton on Tuesday evening and chaos ensued when the starter let them go and the jockey wasn’t in the saddle. It’s a 745-mile round trip from Letterkenny to Wolverhampton and it would be a shame if it was wasted.

He finished seventh of 14 at Dundalk on his final start for James McAuley in February. That effort came off a mark of 48 and he runs off a 2lb lower rating here. This horse is no stranger to Britain as he was trained by David Lanigan and Archie Watson before moving to Ireland. Five of his six wins have come on an artificial surface and he has finished second here once in four starts.

The seven-year-old gelding has done most of his winning for McAuley and the most recent of those victories came in October, where he won off a mark of 48 at Dundalk. He could be dangerous with a 2lb lower rating here. This selling handicap isn’t the deepest of races and it presents a good opportunity. Luke Morris is on board and he knows his way around Wolverhampton, having ridden 443 winners at the track.
