We are treated to a decent card at Catterick Racecourse on Wednesday and Jonjo O’Neill, who started off his season very well, has two live contenders at the track. O’Neill has saddled four winners from just seven runners at the course this season which is a superb return, so read on below as his pair might be worth monitoring in the market. Our free horse racing tips as always can be found on the website too so head on over.
O’Neill’s first runner of the day takes his chance in the extended 2m3f novice hurdle and his son of Court Cave should have a great chance at first glance. Yes Day finished third in a bumper at Chepstow on debut before winning on hurdling bow at Uttoxeter in October. He again ran well when third in a decent novice hurdle at Warwick in November, before being beaten 10 lengths in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham behind Shanagh Bob when last seen. That could be a hot race and he deserves to be favourite in this.
Last but certainly not least, O’Neill has another very strong chance in the bumper with Wilful, who cost €105,000 at three. He ran very keen when fourth at Stratford on debut, but settled better when winning in style over course and distance last month. He has a penalty to carry for that win which will make life much tougher, but with most O’Neill runners, they tend to improve with racing so there should be a lot more to come. The son of Westerner has a lovely pedigree and should enjoy obstacles, but for now he can double his tally in bumpers.
