There is some excellent racing on Saturday. The Clarence House Chase is the Ascot feature while former Champion Hurdler, Buveur D’Air is set to resume action at Haydock in the Champion Hurdle Trial. That card will be dependant on the weather to join Taunton on ITV Racing but there are no issues anticipated at Newcastle.
An evening card up there, where the most interesting runner comes up in the final race at 7.10. It’s a 616-mile round trip with just a single runner for this trainer and is a pick that you can find in our free horse racing tips for Saturday evening’s card.
There have likely to have been some problems for Alnasherat given that the five-year-old has only had seven races. He has shown some fair form on synthetic surfaces when getting the chance. A winner at Lingfield over this trip for Sir Michael Stoute in 2019 from three pounds lower, he was placed from this mark for James Tate this past September.
He has been gelded ahead of his debut for the yard of Adam West which is the first point of interest. West is 2/7, a 28% strike rate, with horses on their first start after being gelded. That is a small sample size but the fact that West chooses Newcastle for the debut for this horse is also significant.
It’s a 616-mile round trip to the track from West’s base in Epsom, a long way to travel for a standard Class 4 handicap that are two a penny closer to home. From sixteen runners at this track, West has won with three – a 19% strike rate – for an enormous level stakes profit of +£87.38. There have also been a pair of seconds to add to that.
Compare that to the other All-Weather tracks, where West’s strike rate is a mere 5%, a combined 14/290. The yard win with 7% of their overall runners so runners to Newcastle need extra respect and a current double-figure price looks an interesting each way angle.
