Gary Moore has clearly been targeting Windsor so far this season. The Sussex-based trainer has had just six runners at the Berkshire track during the current campaign and four of them have been victorious. This provides him with an excellent strike-rate of 67 per cent, which is very healthy indeed.
It therefore looks significant that he sends just one runner there on Monday. The horse in question is a consistent sort who is looking to shed his maiden tag at the eighth time of asking. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Fierce is yet to taste victory but his relatively consistent profile suggests he should be capable of winning races. He didn’t show a great deal in his first couple of starts, which came here and at Sandown, and he never looked dangerous. Since then however, he has shown a consistent level of performance, over both 5f and 6f.
Perhaps his best effort as a juvenile came in a Goodwood novice event back in October, where he finished second. No fewer than five subsequent winners have come out of that race and there were only eight runners. A repeat of that effort here would surely put him in the mix.
Making his seasonal debut in a handicap at Newmarket earlier this month, he ran into some trouble at the start and did well to finish third as a consequence. That was his first start for 154 days and he’s entitled to improve for it. The George Boughey and William Haggas runners, who are both previous winners, could prove tricky to beat but you wouldn’t want to rule this lad out.
