Trainer with 43% strike-rate at Chepstow this season has sole 14-1 runner

With the clocks going back a few days ago, the race times are getting earlier and earlier! Racing on Wednesday kicks off at 12:30, with Chepstow, Nottingham and Musselburgh the afternoon action. Kempton and Dundalk provide us with twilight racing on the All-Weather, and we’ll have horse racing tips for all five meetings.

While looking through Wednesday’s racing, an interesting statistic came up at Chepstow. Philip Hobbs has sent seven runners to the venue this season, with three returning home as winners. That 43% strike-rate equates to a handy level stakes profit of £19.00 and he sends just one to Wales on Wednesday. Find out all the details below, and remember to gamble safely.

12.30 Chepstow – Finrock 2021 ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle

Hobbs is 3/6 with hurdlers at Chepstow this season and Mister Marbles bids to enhance that record under Tom O’Brien. There isn’t much to go on with this son of Doyen, who makes his rules debut in the colours of Alan Peterson. He was a 11,000euro purchase, the fifth foal of a Presenting mare.

He’s a half-brother to Bally Rone, who won a point, bumper and hurdling race for Rebecca Curtis back in 2013. His pedigree suggests he may need further in time, with Bally Rone breaking his maiden over 2m 4f. That being said, Hobbs is more than capable of readying a horse for their rules debut.

He’s certainly bred to be useful horse and any market support would be very interesting to note. Overall at Chepstow, Hobbs has a 27% strike-rate with his hurdlers in non-handicaps, for a level stakes profit of £19.45. That bodes extremely well and dropped you’d have to be positive on his chances of making a winning start.
