Trainer with 4 winners from last 7 runners has just 1 on Tuesday at 33/1!

Wolverhampton Racecourse

Richard Whitaker has had just eight winners on the flat in 2020 but four of those have come in the last seven horses he has saddled. It’s a remarkable run of form for a small yard since the start of October and they will be hoping that it will continue tonight. They send just a single runner to Wolverhampton in the 6.30pm and he’s a 33/1 chance.

Billy Roberts – 6.30 Wolverhampton – 33/1

He’s yet to get his head in front on the all-weather but he’s only had eight opportunities. He’s notched up a second, third and fourth at this track, all from higher marks. Connections clearly feel he’s not producing what he can and have experimented with both cheekpieces and blinkers. Tonight they remove the headgear and try a tongue strap instead which is an interesting move given his lack of a finish in recent starts.

Phil Dennis got off him two starts back to say that the horse weakened quickly so the new aid is worth a try. Billy Roberts was placed here last October from a four-pound higher mark so he is clearly well enough treated at present if he can find that form again. If it does tie in with being a breathing problem, then he’s on a winnable mark if this is the cure. Given his yard are absolutely flying with four winners since the 5th of October, this might be the time to take a chance on him at a huge price.
