The autumn months always seem to be the time to catch the Charlie Longsdon yard at their best. 2021 has been no exception with nine winners from thirty-nine runners since the start of September. Fontwell has been a particularly happy hunting ground in the early months of this campaign with three winners from just four runners at the track.
Longsdon sends one runner to the Sussex course on Wednesday in a bid to improve on that record. Fontwell is one of five cards on Wednesday and is the meeting where our NAP of the day runs. There is also racing at Newmarket, Worcester, Navan and Kempton with free horse racing tips for all on the site.
Wheatus fans will no doubt already have Teenage Dirtbag in their notebooks as one to follow on the name alone. He has been running to a consistent level since handicapping, beaten less than five lengths from this same mark last time out when this ten-pound claimer also took the ride on him.
The first and fourth there have been second and third since to suggest that the form is solid enough at this low level. He handles good to soft ground fine and his low weight could well be a help if the forecast rain is heavy. His form has come over a longer trip but that should be a plus if this turns into a slog in the conditions.
His dam is a half-sister to Maria Rollins who was a smart type back in the day. That mare is the dam of Pendra who this yard had in their care. Pendra was runner-up in the 2017 Kim Muir off a mark of 145 so there is enough talent in the pedigree to think that this horse can find an opening off a mark of 76.
