Top trainer at Newbury last season has sole 33-1 runner in the Coral Gold Cup 🏆

Venetia Williams operated at 31 per cent at Newbury last season with four winners from her 13 runners. One of those winners was a 33-1 winner in the Coral Gold Cup, Cloudy Glen. She sends just one runner to the track in that race this year.

3.05 Newbury

Although he has the burden of top weight, Fanion D’Estruval is a classy sort and looks set to run a big race for Venetia Williams, who won this race last year. The gelding is two from two in handicaps at this course, bolting up off 151 here this time last year.

He is now 9lb higher in the weights, but Lucy Turner will take 5lb off in the saddle with her valuable claim. This horse always goes well fresh, so you can be sure fitness won’t be an issue.

Fanion D’Estruval arrives here off the back of two runs in Grade 1 company. He finished a gallant third in the Ascot Chase behind Fakir D’oudairies in February and disappointed in the Ryanair.

He will need a career best to win the race but he could be a solid each way player. Class prevails a lot in these races and he deserves plenty of respect.
