Top jockey who was 42% at Wetherby last season has one ride on Wednesday

NOBLE YEATS

Sean Bowen is as good as it gets when it comes to the best jockeys in Britain over jumps at present. The maestro is operating at an incredible 25 per cent already this season, bagging 90 winners from 366 rides which is a brilliant return. At Wetherby Racecourse last season, he had an incredible 42 per cent return and it has to be very interesting that he goes there for just one ride on Wednesday. 2.25 Wetherby

Olly Murphy has had a very good spell of late and has a 23 per cent return at Wetherby in the last five years, so pairing up with Bowen could be a lethal combination as Ukantango bids for glory on chasing debut. The son of Ocovango won his first three starts under rules, a bumper at Stratford and two victories over hurdles at Aintree and Wetherby.

Ukantango finished second in a Cheltenham Grade 2 behind Fennor Cross, a horse who went on to win a valuable handicap at Aintree. He hasn’t done much since but was always going to be a better chaser in the making. He has point experience (ran in points twice) so chasing should be his game and he should be ready to go first time out this season.

You couldn’t ask for a better rider to be on the horse than Sean Bowen so that is another big positive. The market might tell the story but it would be no surprise to see plenty of money come for this horse as he could be a notch above the rest of the field.
