Long-Distance Traveller – Dreamweaver (5.30pm)

The GoReboot Handicap kicks off the action at Newcastle today, and this race sees a field of nine battle it out over an extended 1m4f trip. Ed Walker’s Dreamwalker makes the 283-mile jaunt from Lambourn to contest this handicap and the Mastercraftsman gelding rates as the one that they all have to beat.

A fast-finishing second when upped in trip at Lingfield last time out, he gets in here running off the same mark, and granted a stronger pace to aim at this afternoon – he can stamp his class on this field and gain the third win of his career.

Course Specialist – Home Before Dusk (7.30pm)

Arriving here with a 2-4 record at Newcastle – including a 6/1 win here in June – Home Before Dusk looks a big player in the Nutshell Apps Handicap.

Keith Dalgleish’s charge ran better than the bare result suggests in a 1m2f handicap here last time out. He is two-pound lower today, and Danny Tudhope (who has been aboard for both of his wins at this venue) takes the ride.

Trainer/Jockey Combination – Be Proud (8.30pm)

Danny Tudhope also holds leading claims in the Gainford Group Handicap – which is the final race on the card. His mount here, Be Proud, has finished a close second the last twice and now drops back to the minimum trip for the first time in his career.

Tudhope is currently operating at a 31% strike-rate at Newcastle in 2019, and when teaming up with trainer Jim Goldie here in the last four years – that is boosted to an eye-catching 38%.
