Three horses who will love heavy ground at Chepstow on Wednesday afternoon

Raz De Maree - Welsh National

It’s a competitive day of racing on Wednesday, with meetings across Britain and Ireland. Kempton, Musselburgh and Warwick are all on the docket, with Dundalk joining them across the water. We’ll have horse racing tips on the website, including a NAP of the Day. Chepstow is a notoriously tough venue to get home in when the ground is heavy. You need a horse proven in the conditions to be successful and we’ve found three horses who fit that profile on Wednesday. The details can be found below.

1.30 Chepstow

Tahmuras hails from the powerful Paul Nicholls yard and is likely to go off in front, which could end two ways for him as he might not have encountered ground this bad before. Colonel Harry will be waiting in the wings to take advantage. He has won on heavy in the past and the Sheahan & Snowden combination won this race last year.

2.05 Chepstow

Jackpot D’Athou was beaten less than a length into third by Josh The Boss in a Kempton bumper in March on heavy ground. The form of that race has worked out extremely well as the winner won a maiden hurdle at Warwick by 19 lengths last month. Paul Nicholls’ runner should prove too good for these.

2.40 Chepstow

Heros De Romay is a half-brother to the smart chaser Espoir de Romay and created a good impression on debut in a bumper at Exeter in January on heavy ground. He was a beaten favourite at Hereford next time, but back on testing ground he should be seen to better effect. He is taken to get back on track for a yard in good form.
