Three horses that are ahead of the handicapper at Haydock on Thursday ⚖️

You need to take every advantage you can get in this game and there are three horses running at Haydock on Thursday that have a major one. These three horses are carrying less weight in their respective races than their official ratings suggest they should be. It’s a major positive that they have something in hand over the handicapper and it could prove crucial. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

7.10 Haydock

Brian The Snail (2lb in hand)

Patrick Morris’ charge was an easy winner at Redcar last week and is due to go up 7lb as a result. Much to the handicapper’s dismay, he only carries a 5lb penalty instead. That victory was his first since February 2021, where he won off 99. Connections are getting him out quickly in order to capitalise on that confidence-boosting win last time and he should go well again.

8.15 Haydock

Trais Fluors (4lb in hand)

Jack Channon’s gelding escapes a penalty for winning an apprentice handicap at Goodwood in cosy fashion last time out. He’ll be expected to follow up here on the evidence of that victory, which came five days ago. The jury is out on whether or not the drop back to a mile will suit, having scored over 1m1f last time, but there’s every chance he can take full advantage of his 4lb bonus here.

8.50 Haydock

Blue Yonder (4lb in hand)

Richard Fahey’s colt has won two of his last three starts, runs off a mark of 69 here and is due to go up a further 4lb. This fact suggests now should be a good time to catch him. Well clear of the third last time out, this looks like a good opportunity to go one better. There are no guarantees in this game but it’s hard to look past this significant weight advantage.
