It’s fair to say that there are easier tracks to get to from Lambourn than Newcastle and there are several southern raiders heading to the north east on Thursday. Connections won’t want to come home empty-handed after a costly trip so we’ve combined three Lambourn-based runners into a Juicy treble. Commanding Prince (1/2, bet365) wasn’t beaten far on debut at Southwell last month, where he finished second by a neck over this trip. The son of Too Darn Hot went one better in good style here over a mile last time out. He’s surely entitled to progress again and that recent success surely makes him the one to beat. Trainer Archie Watson is in good form of late, operating at a strike-rate of 29 per cent in the last fortnight and you wouldn’t want to rule out another winner here.
Miss Attitude (3/1, bet365) represents the Jack Channon yard and she returned to winning ways on her first start since September at Southwell earlier this month. The handicapper has pushed her up 3lb since, which doesn’t look unreasonable, and she could improve again. Unexposed on the all-weather, she’s entitled to be in the mix.
Antiquity (5/2, bet365) has been consistent since the turn of the year, with his only bad run coming over 1m2f. Jamie Osborne’s three-year-old won off 57 at Lingfield in January and has finished second in his last two starts. Whilst it’s noted that Antiquity is creeping up the handicap without winning, he is lightly raced enough to suggest that the best is yet to come.
