‘This trio will relish conditions’ – Three soft ground lovers at Ayr on Saturday

We are going to be treated to a brilliant card at Ayr Racecourse on Saturday who host the Scottish Grand National, and in these conditions it is always a place where soft ground horses thrive. Let’s take a look at the three who we think could go well on Saturday and always remember to bet responsibly.

1.15 Ayr

Tommy’s Oscar is very smart over fences at his best and although he has the burden of top weight and 12 stone, he will give his rivals plenty to think about on soft ground. He made a winning return at Kelso, and only poor jumping cost him when last seen. If he jumped well on that occasion, he probably would have won as he travelled really well. Pembroke is going to be very hard to beat but this lad could be the main danger.

1.50 Ayr

Marble Sands is more than capable of handling cut in the ground and he has won two of his five starts since concentrating on fences this season with Nick Slatter on his back. He won a Musselburgh novice handicap over 2m4f in February and has a spin on the Flat since to keep him on his toes. He has to enter the reckoning here.

2.25 Ayr

Willie Mullins is sending a small army to Ayr on Saturday and one of his bigger chances at a price on the day is Westport Cove, who enjoys soft ground. He won on hurdles debut at Thurles in November and was a good third to Effernock Fizz in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse when last seen. He is fairly treated off 139.
