‘This filly is going places’ – 25/1, 16/1 and 14/1 ITV Outsiders on Thursday

We have a rare mid-week treat to look forward to this week, as Doncaster’s St Leger Festival kicks off on Thursday. The first five races will be live on ITV so we’re back with more tantalising outsiders. Liam Bramall has picked out three horses who could have been unfairly overlooked in the market. They include an interesting Irish raider who is improving at a rapid rate and a Charlie Johnston runner that deserves another chance. 1.50 Doncaster

Poatan (16/1, Betfred) could have a strong chance, provided the rain stays away. George Scott’s colt looked smart when winning nicely at Windsor last month and wind surgery clearly did the trick. He does have a bit to find with Jel Pepper but he’s going the right way and you can’t rule out a reversal of the form. The best is yet to come from this son of Lucky Vega.

2.25 Doncaster

Timeforshowcasing (25/1, Betfred) beat three subsequent winners when scoring in good style at Chelmsford on debut. Charlie Johnston’s filly then made no mistake under a penalty at Newbury next time and that race is working out well too. Outpaced in the Lowther last time out, she deserves another chance now going up in trip.

3.00 Doncaster

Floresta (14/1, Betfred) bolted up last time out and this filly is going places. Johnny Murtagh’s three-year-old has only had five starts so far and she made no mistake in Listed company at Leopardstown. It was her first start over 1m6f and she was more than four lengths clear crossing the line. Further progress seems likely and this could be a shrewd piece of placement from her trainer.
