1.25 Leicester

Elongate (6-1, bet365) has had three career-starts to date. Alice Haynes’ filly has shown promise in all three, especially at Chelmsford when last seen. She was second by less than a length and showed improvement from her previous start. Has the perfect profile for winning a Nursery on handicap debut as further progression is expected. An opening mark of 64 should be perfectly manageable and it would be no surprise to see her break the maiden tag at the the fourth time of asking.

2.00 Leicester

River Usk (3-1, William Hill) showed substantial improvement on handicap debut over course and distance last time out. Obviously appreciated the step up to 7f and it seems likely that there could be more to come. The improvement didn’t go unmissed by the handicapper who raised the colt by 4lb as a result of that effort. He can build on that effort however and should be capable of improving beyond this current mark.

2.35 Leicester

Cannon Rock (2-1, bet365) is a well-bred newcomer from the Charlie Appleby yard. Appleby’s horses always have to go under consideration in two-year-old novice and maiden events. One look at his pedigree is enough to turn one’s head as he’s out of a useful Group 3-winning mare trained by Andre Fabre. Gelded already, he’s likely to be ready to go on debut and a win looks like a significant possibility.
