Royal Ascot is fast approaching and there is so much top level action to look forward to. It’s British Flat racing’s major summer festival and all the top dogs will be represented. Aidan O’Brien always sends over a strong team and this year will be no different. With that in mind, we’ve picked out three of his horses that have massive chances. Los Angeles is probably better over 1m4f but he has won both starts over shorter this season. He won the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh last time out and O’Brien often uses that as prep for this race. A stiff test of stamina would suit this Irish Derby winner and there’s a good chance he’ll get one.
Jan Brueghel looks like one of Ballydoyle’s best chances of filling the void left by superstar stayer Kyprios. He was very progressive as a three-year-old last year and won and managed to win all four starts, including the St Leger. The son of Galileo has the perfect profile and could be a force in this division.
Lake Victoria was an exceptional two-year-old and she looked badly in need of the run when finishing sixth in the 1000 Guineas. She won three Group/Grade 1 races within the span of 16 days last season, which is a massive achievement. This impeccably bred filly returned to winning ways with a dominant display in the Irish equivalent recently and will be very hard to beat if turning up in similar form.
