‘There’s nothing between them but the price’ – Ebor Festival Day 1 ITV Outsiders

One of Flat racing’s best meetings is York’s four-day Ebor Festival is one of the highlights. It gets underway on Wednesday and the first five races are live on ITV. With that in mind, we’ve picked out three potentially overpriced runners who can run big races. These include a 28/1 shot in the opening race on the card who produced a smart level of form last season and shouldn’t be underestimated. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 York

Tatterstall (28/1, bet365) makes his seasonal reappearance here and a long absence seems like the only negative. He produced a high level of  form last year, winning a competitive handicap at Glorious Goodwood off a 6lb lower mark. Not beaten far when fourth at Southwell last time out, he’s back on the grass now and could easily run a big race.

2.25 York

Rochfortbridge (14/1, bet365) was a game winner on debut at Ayr last month and he beat Thesecretadversary, a subsequent Listed winner, by the same distance as Italy did. That suggests there’s almost nothing between them but the prices here and Aidan O’Brien’s runner is a fraction of Rochfortbridge’s odds. Improvement will be needed at this level but he’s entitled to find plenty on just his second start.

4.10 York

Almuhit (16/1, bet365) has some smart form to his name and has been going well recently. Faye Bramley’s was a game winner of a valuable race at Newbury on his penultimate start. Currently on just a 3lb higher mark, it was a fair effort when second in the Shergar Cup recently. It’s possible that the handicapper is close to having him in their grasp but he can win again before that happens.
