We have another awesome weekend of racing action to look forward to across Britain and Ireland. The ITV cameras are out on Friday and they will be covering six races from Newbury and Southwell. That means we’re back with our usual feast of outsiders and Liam Bramall has three selections. These include a runner in Newbury’s feature race who could be revitalised by the switch back to hurdles. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Ahoy Senor (20/1, Boylesports) has gone off the boil in recent seasons but he’s a hugely talented horse on his day. It’s interesting that connections are sending him back over hurdles and it could resurrect his career if successful. Already a Grade 1 winner in this sphere, he won the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle at the expense of Bravemansgame back in 2021. He’s quirky and this could be just what he needs.
Invictus Gold (12/1, bet365) remains lightly raced and he was an impressive winner of a competitive handicap at Newmarket in May. Tom Clover’s three-year-old returned to action with a fair fifth at Kempton and has been dropped 1lb by the handicapper since. It’s possible that he could use a bit more help on that front but a return to winning ways should be on the cards soon.
Sameul Spade (25/1, bet365) is sliding back down the weights and appears to be back down to an attractive mark. He won a race at Ascot in good style off a 4lb lower mark back in February and ran well again off 133 after that. Ben Pauling’s gelding needed the run badly on seasonal debut last time and should be much more competitive on this occasion.
