‘The rain has come’ – Three horses who will love cut in the ground at Newmarket

Well, well, well! Most of us have been studying good ground form for the week, anticipating a sound surface at Newmarket. However, things have turned on its head and antepost bets are flying out the window as it now officially soft for the Cesarewitch. You can view all of the weekend’s tips on our free horse racing tips page and make sure you avail of those valuable free bets on our offers page for the weekend too. Let’s take a look at three horses who would love soft ground at Newmarket on Saturday.

1.25 Newmarket

The market should tell a lot but Chief Little Rock had no problem handling soft ground when last seen finishing second in a Group 2 at the Curragh last month. The son of Galileo bumped into a good one in the form of Deepone on the day but this represents a drop down in grade.

2.40 Newmarket

Third in an Irish Derby and placed at the top table twice, Wordsworth might not be the horse he was but he still has to have a chance off a mark of 105 in this handicap. He bolted up over hurdles at Bangor this month on his first start for David Pipe and jump trainers have a terrific record in this race. Write him off at your peril.

3.15 Newmarket

Arabian Crown is a well bred son of Dubawi who had no bother stepping up in grade when winning a Salisbury Listed race when last seen. The yard has won the last two runnings of this race and know exactly what’s required. He is also proven on soft ground so he should win this.
