The Flat season is with us good and proper now and there’s always an air of excitement as Guineas weekend at Newmarket Racecourse is fast approaching us. We have some cracking racing from Goodwood and Newmarket on Friday live on ITV Racing and Ryan Moore has just two rides on ITV. Both look far too big at first glance and they combine to form a tasty double.
Sir Michael Stoute is two from two at Newmarket this year so far and Moore will get the leg up on Circle Of Fire in the opening Listed race over 1m2f. The well bred son of Almanzor finished third on his debut before going on to impressively win over 1m at Salisbury in novice company in September. He hit the line hard there so he looks the type to improve dramatically again now stepping up in trip. This Derby entrant has to be taken seriously.
Moore’s final ride on ITV is aboard the James Tate runner Iconic Moment in the 7f Listed contest. He won both of his starts as a juvenile over 7f and got up on the line in a Listed race at Lingfield over 7f in March. He didn’t seem to see out the mile in a valuable conditions contest when last seen so the drop back to 7f could be ideal for him. The son of Harry Angel needs to improve for the switch to turf now but there is every chance that he may do just that. The booking of Moore is a real sign of intent by connections which is a plus.
