Gordon Elliott came back to form with a bang at Punchestown on Tuesday. He struck with a magnificent 21,293-1 four-timer that no one saw coming. The six runners he has at Punchestown on Thursday will no doubt have the bookies running for cover. Without further ado, here are four selections to put into a Lucky 15 for Thursday’s action. Sire Du Berlais (13-2, Paddy Power) roared back to form last time when toppling dual Stayers’ Hurdle hero Flooring Porter at Aintree last time out. Three of his four career victories have come in April and May which firmly supports the idea that he comes alive during the spring. The ten-year-old looks to have a great chance in a race wherein there are plenty of question marks surrounding the favourite.
Sassy Yet Classy (15-2, Paddy Power) was brought down too early in the race to know if she was going to have a chance in the Pertemps Final last time. On the back of her good second in a decent handicap at Navan two starts ago she looks to have a solid chance here. She has already won at three miles this season so the trip won’t cause any issues.
A 120-day break did Hurricane Georgie (5-1, Paddy Power) the world of good judging by her close second in a Listed mares’ chase last time out. She’d been on the go since June and was probably over the top on her two previous runs before that. That prep run last time should have sharpened up this consistent sort and she should go close.
Music Drive (5-1, bet365) was by no means disgraced when eighth in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham when last seen. On that form he doesn’t have too many to worry about here. He’ll need to improve again to reverse the form with St James’s Gate but you wouldn’t want to rule out further progress.
