‘The big guns are here’ – Irish raiders form a Lucky 15 at Newmarket on Friday ☘️

Quadrilateral wins the Fillies Mile

It’s Day 2 of Newmarket‘s Future Champions Festival on Friday and the quality racing has drawn the attention of Ireland’s top trainers. It’s certainly a good thing that the big guns will be here, with Aidan O’Brien, Jessica Harrington and Dermot Weld all represented. They have a combined total of five runners between them and we’ve put their four best chances into a Lucky 15. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 Newmarket

Tarawa (10-1, Boylesports) represents the Dermot Weld yard and she’s been a consistent performer so far this season, despite not winning. She was only beaten by a length when third in a Group 2 at Leopardstown in July and a repeat of that effort should be more than enough.

2.25 Newmarket

Azazat (10-1, bet365) finished third behind Savethelastdance in April and followed that up with an impressive win at Leopardstown when upped to 1m4f. Her narrow second in a Group 3 at Cork in June is solid form and she has every chance of being right in the mix here.

3.00 Newmarket

Ylang Ylang (3-1, Paddy Power) looked very promising in her first two starts but was bitterly disappointing in the Moyglare last time. Ryan Moore effectively pulled her up, which suggests that the run wasn’t an accurate reflection of this filly’s ability. She can bounce right back to her best here, in the capable hands of Aidan O’Brien.

4.45 Newmarket

Psalm (3-1, bet365) makes his debut here and it’s always interesting when Aidan O’Brien runs one in a British maiden. He was a 300,000 guineas purchase and there are plenty of winners in his pedigree. If connections weren’t expecting much first time out, you would imagine they would have found a race closer to home. This is definitely one to watch in the market.
